The Student Association also voted and elected members to its Finance Board and other committees.

At the Syracuse University Student Association meeting Monday night, President James Franco announced that he is continuing to work on a partnership between the organization and Uber.

Franco said he has reached out to places such as Destiny USA and Armory Square as potential sponsors for a partnership with Uber and SA. Franco said those establishments have shown some interest in sponsorship, but nothing is finalized.

Vice President Angie Pati also detailed SA’s upcoming Mental Health Awareness Week. The advocacy event starts next week. Pati hopes SA members will volunteer and be heavily involved in the event, she said.

Pati added that there will be a more “lighthearted” day to focus on mental health when it is not in a crisis mode. On Monday, there will be inflatable obstacle courses on the Quad. Tuesday will focus on intersectionality in mental health, and a dialogue about that subject will be held in the evening.

Wednesday will be “Send Silence Packing” day. About 1,100 backpacks will be arranged around the Quad to represent suicide victims. Thursday will be a day of meditation, which includes therapy dogs.

Throughout the week, there will be opportunities for people to tie lime-green ribbons around trees if mental health has ever affected their lives.
