After a 72-68 win over Virginia on Thursday, Syracuse (17-4, 6-2 Atlantic Coast) rose three spots to No. 15 in the Associated Press poll.
The Orange had their bye week this week, so they didn’t play a normally-scheduled Sunday ACC game. Instead, SU’s next game is Thursday, on the road against No. 2 Louisville. The Cardinals are coming off a week in which it defeated then-No. 2 Connecticut, 78-69, and dismantled Clemson, 76-44. Louisville, whose win streak is now at seven, received three first-place votes in the poll.
Tiana Mangakahia was also named one of 20 players on the Wooden Award Late Season Watch List. Mangakahia, who was also on the award’s midseason Top 25 watch list, is averaging 15.9 points and five rebounds and is second in the country with 8.1 assists per game, behind only Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu.
The point guard led Syracuse with 16 points and 14 assists against the Cavaliers, including two clutch free throws that broke a tie with 1:10 left in the game.
