After falling to its lowest-ranking in two months last week, Syracuse (14-3, 5-2 Atlantic Coast) rose a spot to No. 4 in Monday’s Inside Lacrosse poll. While the top-3 in the rankings stayed the same, Syracuse took the fourth spot from Notre Dame, which fell to No. 5 Northwestern, 15-11, on Saturday.
The Orange played just one game last week, a 16-13 victory over in-state rival Cornell. They fell behind 12-11 in the second half before taking control of the game in the last 11 minutes, outscoring the Big Red, 5-1.
Syracuse is also ranked No. 4 in the ACC tournament, which begins on Wednesday. While Boston College owns the top seed both nationally and in the conference, SU was one of three teams that went 5-2 in the ACC, along with North Carolina and Notre Dame. All three teams went 1-1 against each other, but Syracuse lost the tiebreakers and earned the fourth spot.
The Orange will play fifth-ranked Virginia, who they defeated 16-11 on March 2, on Wednesday in the first round of the ACC tournament in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
